Math
We will continue working on multiplication and the way it relates to division. Here is a website for your child to practice multiplication facts using games: http://www.multiplication.com/games/all-games
Reading
We will begin our look at historical figures. Our reading will consist of biographies and informational texts. We will begin studying Paul Revere.

Science/SS/Health
We will begin a unit on Ancient Greece. Your child will explain the political roots of our modern democracy in the United States of America. He/she will need to identify the influence of Greek architecture (columns on the Parthenon, U. S. Supreme Court building), law, and the Olympic Games on today’s government and structures.. We will also look at how the ancient Athenians’ idea that a community should choose its own leaders. We will compare and contrast Athens as a direct democracy with the United States as a representative democracy. Using maps, we will locate major topographical features and locate Greece on a world map.
Homework
Students will continue to have spelling homework every night. Math homework is dependent on their Math teacher. They will occasionally have Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. Just remember to check their planner to know what is due. Please sign your child’s planner EVERY night!
Please ensure that you are reading a book every night with your child. The more exposure to text, the better reader he/she will become.
